Marinas & boating on the Costa del Sol
Would you like to walk from breakfast to your boat, or simply enjoy marina restaurants and seaside life nearby? Those are different housing choices. Here we distinguish a home near a marina from a practical base for your own boat.
Get personal help choosing an areaStart with the boat and the season
For your own boat, investigate the harbour before committing to a home location. A berth requires a separate agreement with the marina and is not automatically included in a property purchase. If you prefer chartering, local charter options and walking distance may matter more than a permanent berth.
- Specify the boat's length, beam and draught.
- Do you need a year-round berth, a seasonal berth or occasional visits?
- Which services do you need: power, water, lifting or maintenance?
Compare the marina and the neighbourhood together
Puerto Banús can be a starting point when comparing Marbella and Nueva Andalucía. Benalmádena and Estepona are other areas to explore for marina life near everyday amenities. Sotogrande is an option if both boating and golf appeal. Visit in the evening too, and assess noise, parking and the actual route to the quay.

A berth in Spain: what needs confirming?
Ask the marina for written confirmation of suitability for your boat, contract duration, total cost, insurance requirements and required documents. Check cancellation and any transfer conditions too. Published marina capacity says nothing about vacancies. Solria does not sell berths and cannot guarantee availability.
A home that works on land too
Separate the property cost from marina fees, insurance and boat maintenance. Check community rules, parking, storage and property condition with an independent lawyer and relevant specialists. Then tell Solria your budget and boating plans: we help you choose areas and find the right agent, while the marina confirms the berth.

Read the area guideFrequently asked questions
- Does a marina-side home include a berth?
- Not automatically. Any rights must be reviewed separately and confirmed with the marina and your lawyer.
- Can Solria guarantee a berth?
- No. The marina must confirm current availability and conditions for your boat's dimensions and dates. Solria helps with housing areas and agent matching.
- Do I need my own boat to live near a marina?
- No. You may choose marina life for restaurants, walks and atmosphere, or explore chartering instead of ownership.
