Easy, walkable, well served

Buying an apartment or house in Fuengirola

Fuengirola is the most Scandinavian-friendly town on the coast. It has a Swedish school, a Swedish church and Swedish shops, an eight-kilometre promenade, and a train that runs directly to Málaga airport in about half an hour.

How it feels here

This is where Swedes most often land first, and many stay. Everything is close: supermarket, clinic, harbour, beach and restaurants within walking distance. Apartment prices are the lowest of these four areas and supply is broad. Fuengirola suits buyers who want simplicity, community and short distances rather than exclusivity.

In depth – Fuengirola

Fuengirola prices – what costs what?

Fuengirola has the lowest price per square metre of the four towns, but location matters: frontline promenade costs clearly more than the streets behind. Rough price per square metre: EUR 2,500–3,800 in Los Boliches and the centre, EUR 3,500–5,000 frontline, EUR 2,000–3,000 in Torreblanca and Los Pacos. Always add 10–13 % in purchase costs on top.

  • Two-bedroom apartment in Los Boliches near the beach: roughly EUR 190k–280k.
  • Three-bedroom apartment in the centre with balcony: roughly EUR 230k–380k.
  • Frontline apartment with sea views: roughly EUR 380k–560k.
  • Villa in Torreblanca or Los Pacos: from roughly EUR 550k.
  • Running costs: community fees roughly EUR 65–230 per month, IBI EUR 280–820 per year.

Swedish-speaking agents in Fuengirola

Fuengirola is the coast's most Swedish town — with a school, church, clinics and shops in Swedish, and an agency market to match. Solria is not an agency: we match you free of charge with a local partner agent who speaks Swedish or English, knows the difference between Los Boliches, the centre and Torreblanca and can show properties beyond the portals.

  • The matching is free — we charge you nothing.
  • Check the community's debts and planned works in older buildings.
  • Always use your own independent lawyer — never the seller's.

Living in Fuengirola without a car

This is the easiest town on the coast without a car. The C1 commuter train runs to Málaga centre and the airport roughly every twenty minutes, taking about 30–35 minutes. Supermarket, health centre, pharmacy, harbour and beach are walkable in Los Boliches and the centre, and the eight-kilometre promenade is flat enough for wheelchairs and walkers.

  • Best without a car: Los Boliches and the centre — everything within a 10-minute walk.
  • Train stations: Fuengirola, Los Boliches and Torreblanca on the C1 line.
  • Torreblanca has its own station but steep hills down to the beach.

Golf near Fuengirola

Fuengirola has no course in town itself, but sits between two golf areas: Mijas Golf (Los Lagos and Los Olivos) ten minutes north, and Chaparral Golf in the pine forest towards Marbella. The season runs all year. Many residents play in Mijas and enjoy coming home to a town where everything is walkable.

  • Green fees: roughly EUR 45–90 depending on course and season.
  • Mijas Golf is the coast's largest complex with two 18-hole courses.
  • A taxi or rental car is needed for the courses — the train does not stop at them.

Neighbourhoods to know – Fuengirola

Los Boliches

A Scandinavian neighbourhood near the beach and train station, with the Swedish church and shops around the corner. Mostly apartments, many in older buildings with good locations.

Centrum & hamnen

Shops, the market, restaurants and the port on foot. Lively all year and the location where you manage entirely without a car.

Torreblanca & Carvajal

Calmer, higher up and often with better sea views. Its own train station, but the hills down to the beach are steeper.

Mot Mijas Costa

Newer complexes with bigger pools and more space per euro just outside town. A car is needed for most errands.

How the purchase works in Fuengirola

  1. 1. Location before square metres

In Fuengirola the distance to the beach and train station drives both price and how easily the home rents out. Decide whether you prioritise location or space.

  2. 2. Budget and costs

Allow roughly 10–13 % on top of the price for transfer tax, notary, registration and legal fees. Check the community fee — it varies a lot between older and newer buildings.

  3. 3. NIE and Spanish bank account

A tax number and Spanish account are needed for the purchase and for utilities and fees. We help you apply.

  4. 4. Viewing trip

We show apartments in Los Boliches, the centre and Torreblanca so you notice the difference in pace, views and walking distances.

  5. 5. Contract and community rules

Before you pay 10 % on signing, the lawyer checks debts, planned building works in the community and whether short-term rentals are allowed.

  6. 6. Notary and keys

Completion at the notary, the deed and the keys. Then utilities and fees are transferred. Allow 8–12 weeks from offer to keys.
